GameStop wasn’t able to pay down debt as share prices rose

GameStop saw its market value skyrocket from $1.4 billion to $33.7 billion in January. The retailer was unable, however, to leverage that rise to pay down its $216 million in debt, an action vital to any turnaround, fearing that doing so would run afoul of regulators.
