Carl Icahn puts pressure on Kroger over its animal welfare policies

Carl Icahn has nominated two directors to Kroger’s board in an effort to get the company to improve it animal welfare practices, specifically over the treatment of pigs. Mr. Icahn in February nominated two directors to McDonald’s board to pressure the company to require pork supplies to eliminate the use of crates with pigs. The restaurant giant has said it will phase out the practice over the next decade.
