September 16, 2005
Wal-Mart spokesperson Tara Stewart said the company currently has 94 Toyota Priuses, five Honda Civics and six Ford Escapes in its fleet of cars and will add another 100 Priuses and a minimum of 50 Ford Escape hybrids for fiscal 2007. The hybrid vehicles make sense in many ways for Wal-Mart. “They use less fuel and reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions while providing better gas mileage and lower maintenance costs. They are good for the earth and the bottom line,” she said.
