Taco Bell Is Ditching Breakfast at Some Locations
September 2, 2024
Taco Bell has announced that some of its underperforming locations will no longer be serving breakfast.
Allrecipes reports that some locations of the popular fast-food chain will stop serving breakfast this autumn, robbing devoted customers of their favorite cheese-toasted burritos and delicious hash browns. The corporation claims that this step will help “streamline” menus. October is when the change is scheduled to take place, and it will affect restaurants in different parts of the country.
It is unknown how many restaurants will be affected overall by this move, but it is known that 500 company-owned locations — not franchises — will keep serving breakfast. For franchises, the company gave them the choice to keep breakfast on the menu or opt out of serving it so that both parties “have the flexibility to focus on key drivers of growth,” according to Taco Bell.
“Taco Bell is constantly evolving our menu to better serve our franchisees, team members and fans,” the company told USA Today. “With that said, breakfast will continue to be served in the majority of Taco Bell restaurants as only a small minority have opted out of serving breakfast.”
Taco Bell Will Still Serve Coffee
The company stated that breakfast will continue to be served in those company-owned locations since they understand how well-liked their “simple yet craveable” breakfast selections are with many customers and that the morning menu’s “performance continues to improve through Q2 2024.”
The Taco Bell restaurants that will stop serving breakfast will remain open at 9 a.m. or earlier, but their breakfast selections will be replaced with “the rest of the menu.” But coffee — a morning staple — will always be available. The company actually plans to “ramp up” its coffee program, and those sites that continue to serve breakfast will also be experimenting with new menu items.
Taco Bell says that by concentrating on what each local community wants rather than what the business believes it should serve, it is able to support the expansion of its franchises, which is the reason behind this adjustment in some areas. This also gives new daytime menu items like the Cantina Chicken Menu a chance to shine.
News of this huge menu change comes hot on the heels of the announcement of the best and worst locations in the country. Pacifica, California, hosts the best, while Deltona, Florida, is home to the worst, according to a recent study by Fast Company.
