McDonald’s Spain Celebrates ‘Friends’ 30th Anniversary With ‘Adult Happy Meal’
October 10, 2024
McDonald’s Spain has a special promotion in celebration of “Friends” 30th Anniversary, offering “Adult Happy Meals” to kids of all ages.
According to Deadline, through a partnership with the popular sitcom, the Spain franchise has launched a collection of figurines featuring each of the six cast members. A drink and fries are included with the adult-only Happy Meal, which offers a selection between a Big Mac, a Quarter Pounder, a McRoyal Delux, a CBO, and a McChicken. “Monica’s Marinara,” a unique sauce made especially for the “Friends Box,” is also served with the meal.
The fast-food chain’s international division also unveiled an advertisement, which it posted on social media, in which it converted one of McDonald’s eateries into the well-known Central Perk coffee shop from the popular series, complete with the iconic orange couch.
It’s unclear if McDonald’s will bring the “Adult Happy Meal” to the United States.
McDonald’s Joined the ‘Friends’ Bandwagon
McDonald’s isn’t the only food chain to hop on the “Friends” bandwagon. Over the summer, Krispy Kreme launched a unique collaboration with the 1990s show as well.
Officially launched on June 17, the partnership between the two organizations was limited to the United Kingdom. Snackolator shared some of the early designs for the sweet treats on Instagram.
The “FRIENDS” doughnut paid homage to the show’s opening title sequence with a white chocolate depiction of the Washington Square Park fountain, which was placed in the center of a glazed doughnut covered in chocolate icing and sprinkles.
The “Trifle Friends” doughnut featured custard and strawberries, accompanied by chocolate and green sprinkles. The “How You Doin’?” doughnut was a purple-dipped doughnut with mango and passionfruit-flavored frosting on top. As a special homage to Central Perk, the last flavor, the “We Were On a Coffee Break” doughnut, featured a latte-flavored icing, chocolate swirls, and a white chocolate replica of the Central Perk emblem in the center.
As with the McDonald’s “Adult Happy Meal,” Krispy Kreme didn’t bring this collaboration to the United States, at least not as of yet.
