WWE Superstar Slams Whataburger, Endorses In-N-Out Burger, in New ‘Burger Wars’
October 31, 2024
Whataburger is getting beaten by In-N-Out Burger in the latest “burger wars” that have been kicked off courtesy of WWE superstar Dominik Mysterio. The wrestler was trying to provoke the state of Texas, of which he has a particular antipathy, into reacting to his latest heel turn. But will this stunt translate into increased sales?
Dominik Mysterio Slams Whataburger
The WWE superstar has a penchant for provocation, which may be why he’s one of the most popular performers in the organization. The question remains, however, if this provocation will lead to increased sales for In-N-Out Burger, or conversely, decreased sales for Whataburger.
According to My San Antonio, the rising superstar is known to WWE fans as the “ungrateful” son of lucha libre great and WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio, and he was a recent guest on the Chris Van Vilet podcast, which debuted the “Dirty Dom” episode on Friday, Oct. 25.
One take in particular has now drawn the attention of the Whataburger acolytes in an episode full of comments that gave fans even more reasons to be critical of the self-proclaimed “best Mysterio of all time.”

He was questioned about whether he eats other foods when “tendies” aren’t on the menu while claiming that his unquenchable passion for them isn’t a ploy and that he typically eats them at restaurants. Dom then turned to talk about how much he loves In-N-Out and how he could eat it every day of the week if necessary.
When Chris Van Vilet brought up Whataburger as a comparison, Dom interrupted him. “Whataburger is sh-t,” he proclaimed. “It’s like, I got a cold patty. So, (the cold patty) it’s a thing? The cheese wasn’t even melted, it’s crazy.”
The Fast-Food Chain Is Ready for Halloween
Despite Dominik Mysterio’s proclamations, WWE fans have reportedly seen him in various Whataburger locations, including after the Royal Rumble in 2020.
Perhaps most importantly, the fast-food giant isn’t fazed by the superstar’s protestations. In fact, as it recently demonstrated, it has been busy getting ready for Halloween with its latest BOGO offer.
There is no secret to this one-day-only offer. The juicy, soft, crispy WhataWings are covered in Whataburger’s distinctive sauces, which include Buffalo Sauce, Honey Butter Sauce, Honey BBQ Sauce, Sweet & Spicy Sauce, and the recently added Nashville Hot. Today’s deal is the perfect opportunity to try them out with your closest ghosts and ghouls.
Customers can use the BOGO WhataWings offer today using the app for curbside pickup, delivery, to-go, or dining in. On Nov. 1 at 1:01 a.m. EDT/12:01 a.m. CDT, the offer expires. As soon as customers create an account, they will start to receive rewards and special deals. Prices and availability vary throughout markets.
The BOGO WhataWings offer will be immediately applied to the account and redeemable by current app users on Thursday, Oct. 31. To find offers, choose “More” at the bottom of the app’s home screen, then click “Offers.”
This isn’t the first deal Whataburger has shared with customers this month. The fast-food chain declared in early October that it was providing its patrons with complimentary BOBs (breakfast on a bun) on Oct. 10.
Whataburger said in a press release announcing the gift, “Each B.O.B. is as unique as the Bob who orders it — so make it your own by swapping the American cheese for Monterey Jack or add an extra kick by ordering it Ranchero Style. No matter how you like your B.O.B., Whataburger will make it just like you like it, Bob.”
A fresh egg, American cheese, and a sausage patty or bacon strips make up a breakfast on a bun. Fans adore this sandwich so much that they have given it a nickname.
