National Sandwich Day Was November 3. Here Are Ongoing Sandwich Deals From Popeyes, Subway, & More

November 6, 2024

In honor of National Sandwich Day on Nov. 3, a number of food companies and eateries prepared some enticing offers that are still ongoing. We’ve compiled a list of deals that will make your stomach turn. They range from freebies to significant savings.

National Sandwich Day: Ongoing Deals

National Sandwich Day may be over, but the deals are just beginning.

Between Nov. 3 and Nov. 30, Capriotti’s Rewards members who purchase any regularly priced Bobbie, Homemade Turkey, or Vegetarian Turkey sub can receive a complimentary side of gravy. In celebration of National Sandwich Day, Omaha Steaks is offering a $55 discount on its Italian Beef Sandwich Kit.

Popeyes patrons can receive a complimentary Ghost Pepper, Classic, or Spicy chicken sandwich with any $10 purchase at participating Popeyes locations in the United States through Nov. 10. The deal is available when placing an order using the chain’s mobile order pickup and delivery app. The one-time promotion cannot be combined with other offers or used for third-party delivery.

On National Sandwich Day, Subway introduced its new $6.99 meal deal. A 6-inch sub, chips or two standard cookies, and a small fountain drink are included in the special, which is valid through Dec. 26.

Customers can enter the code 699MEAL on the Subway app or website or place their orders in person at participating U.S. restaurants to take advantage of the one-time offer. Delivery orders are subject to additional fees, and the offer cannot be combined with other discounts.

Jimmy John’s Freaky Fast reward members were able to get 50% off the chain’s new Picklewich when they purchased any 8-inch sandwich on National Sandwich Day. But the savings didn’t stop there. Beginning Nov. 3 and continuing through December, patrons may now order an 8-inch sandwich after 2 p.m. and get it as a combo for free.

Subway Under Legal Fire

Despite its National Sandwich Day offerings, Subway is still under legal fire after a disgruntled customer brought a lawsuit against the sandwich chain for skimping out on the meat.

According to FOX Business, Subway was sued on Oct. 28 for allegedly falsely advertising the quantity of meat in their cheese and steak sandwiches.

After paying $7.61 for a steak and cheese sandwich at a nearby Subway without realizing that “Subway’s ads showed a sandwich containing at least 200% more meat than she and other consumers would receive,” Anna Tollison of Queens, New York City, filed the lawsuit, according to The New York Post.

It was also alleged that other menu items, such as the “cheesy garlic steak,” were not as full of meat as restaurant advertisements suggested.

Commenters on the coverage by both news organizations expressed doubt about the veracity of advertising when it comes to fast-food companies’ marketing campaigns and disapproval of their most current prices.

“Subway is in a going broke scenario. They ran out of ways to provide a sensible value to customers. When you have to spend $20 plus every time just to get a ‘deal’ then it really isn’t a deal,” one user wrote beneath the FOX Business report.

“Pick your poison… there’s not 1 picture of any fast-food outlet product that looks like what you get when you’re at [the] counter, and that includes its size and or how much of whatever is in it,” a second suggested.

A third user remarking on The New York Post report wrote: “It is impossible to cut the meat in a cold cuts sandwich any thinner than Subway.”

Due to ongoing consumer dissatisfaction with fast-food costs, according to Restaurant Business, Subway broke the pattern of sandwiches costing up to $14 by offering participating restaurants a limited-time deal of $6.99 footlongs in August. The $3 value menu “dipper” mini-sandwiches are still on sale, and it looks like Subway is trying to turn around a declining sales trend.
