Walmart First Introduced bettergoods in April

Back in April, Walmart introduced the fastest private food brand it has ever introduced to the market, as well as its biggest private-label brand in 20 years.

Walmart launched bettergoods because, according to the Associated Press, the market research firm Circana found that “private brands” held 26% of the total food and beverage market share in 2023. Store brands have become more well-known as consumers search for less expensive options in an effort to combat inflation.

“As an industry, we’re seeing younger customers be more brand agnostic, prioritizing quality and value, and driving increased interest in private brands,” Scott Morris, Walmart’s senior vice president of private brands, food, and consumables, told the outlet at the time.
