McDonald’s New Holiday Toys Encourage Spirit of Giving
November 18, 2024
McDonald’s has dropped a new holiday toy that encourages the spirit of giving among children.
Known for its classic Happy Meal toys, McDonald’s has introduced a new offering that shares the fun of giving with others. Each meal will come with two Pet Simulator toys — one to keep and one to gift.
Jennifer Healan, McDonald’s vice president of U.S. marketing, brand, content, & culture, said in a press release, “We hope this special Happy Meal inspires kids to share during this season of giving. Sharing is such a big part of the McDonald’s ethos — whether it’s sharing your fries, your McNuggets or a McFlurry — and now we’re giving our youngest fans the opportunity to do that with their Happy Meal, too. This meal has two toys — one for you, and one for you to gift. Whether they choose to gift their extra toy to a family member, make a friend smile, or show kindness to a neighbor, it’s all about helping kids feel the joy of giving this holiday season.”

Dr. Jazmine McCoy, a family psychology expert and mom of three, was quoted by McDonald’s regarding the collaboration. She explained, “From my experience with families, I’ve seen that children are naturally inclined to be generous. They just need gentle encouragement and positive reinforcement. The McDonald’s Pet Simulator Happy Meal gives parents and caregivers an easy and accessible way to nurture their children’s empathy and let them experience the true joy of giving during the holiday season.”
The new initiative launches on Nov. 26 and lasts through Dec. 16, 2024, at participating restaurants nationwide. Two Pet Simulator toys come with the purchase of a Pet Simulator Happy Meal.
How Else Can McDonald’s Customers Give Back This Holiday Season?
With each McDonald’s purchase, customers can round up their order to support families when they need it most through Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). The organization celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
RMHC provides essential services that remove barriers, strengthen families, and promote healing when children need healthcare. There is no cost for families who get medical help and intervention through the Ronald McDonald House.
“Our RMHC story began in Philadelphia. In 1974, Philadelphia Eagles tight-end Fred Hill’s daughter, Kim, and her leukemia diagnosis inspired the Hill family to advocate for a place to support families while their children received care at nearby hospitals. Fred collaborated with our co-founder Dr. Audrey Evans to bring that vision to life. By 1979, the success of this vision led to the establishment of 10 more Ronald McDonald Houses across the United States,” the site explained.
As of 2024, RMHC offers 1,032 programs in 62 countries and regions, The organization remains devoted to advocating for families to ensure the best health outcomes for children. Families are only asked to contribute up to $25 per night, but no one is ever turned away due to inability to pay.
