McDonald’s Is Finally Bringing Back the Beloved Snack Wrap in 2025
December 9, 2024
McDonald’s has had many popular menu items over the years, but none quite as popular as the Snack Wrap. Now, after years of customer clamoring, the fast-food giant is bringing back the beloved treat.
According to Forbes, the Snack Wrap will return nationwide to McDonald’s menus in 2025. The item, which was available in different varieties featuring lettuce, cheese, and various types of chicken wrapped in a warm tortilla, will be brought back after years of fan petitioning, company president Joe Erlinger said on Thursday, Dec. 5, on “Good Morning America.“
Although Erlinger acknowledged that the Snack Wrap has a “cult following” and that he receives “so many emails into my inbox about this product,” he would not say when exactly it will return.
Fans have been waging a sporadic but devoted campaign to restore the Snack Wrap since it was removed from most menus in 2016. This campaign has included dozens of petitions, including one signed by over 18,800 people, and a social media campaign in which the official Slim Jim account inquired about the item.
Initially introduced in 2006, the Snack Wraps were available in beef and chicken protein varieties. Supermodel Heidi Klum was featured in the earliest McDonald’s advertising campaign for the product. The original Snack Wrap was taken from most menus in 2016 (all individual franchises that initially clung to the dish dumped it by 2020), and the beef variants were discontinued in 2013.
According to Business Insider, the menu items were taken off partly because they took too long to prepare and partly because they didn’t sell as well as the company had intended. There were nine different types of wraps, and franchisees grumbled about how long it took to slice the chicken, pack the wraps, and steam the tortillas.
McDonald’s Latest Menu Upgrade
The Snack Wrap’s return marks the fast-food giant’s latest menu upgrade. Late last month, the company announced that it would be retooling its McValue menu for inflation-weary customers.
The new Buy One, Add One for $1 deal; in-app exclusive deals (free large fries with a $1 minimum order and 10-piece Chicken McNuggets for $1); the now-iconic $5 Meal Deal (which includes a McChicken or McDouble, a four-piece order of Chicken McNuggets, small fries, and a small soft drink); and local deals tailored to specific markets are the four main pillars of the McValue platform, which will launch on Jan. 7, 2025.
