Del Taco may finally be coming to the Prairie State. A new report suggests that the popular Tex-Mex-inspired chain will be making its way to South Carolina. Here are the details.
Del Taco May Be Coming to Myrtle Beach
According to The Sun News, developers have placed a sign in Socastee, along Highway 544, just outside the city boundaries of Myrtle Beach, showing drawings of future Del Taco and Freddy’s Frozen Custard outlets. However, there aren’t any locations for South Carolina on the company’s internet map at the moment.
According to its website, the fast-food chain currently runs 595 sites throughout 18 other states. Del Taco launched its first restaurant in Durham, North Carolina, earlier this year. Current menu items include three-layer queso nachos that cost $2.39, crispy chicken tacos that cost $2.19 apiece, and a steak burrito that costs $5.99.
There are presently 12 Freddy’s Frozen Custard stores in South Carolina, including Lexington, Florence, Summerville, Columbia, and Rock Hill. For this chain, french fries are $2.99, frozen custards are $5.79, and Freddy’s Original Double cheeseburger costs $7.79.
A request for comment from the media regarding the potential new site was not answered by Del Taco. However, the popular chain did announce its plans for new locations in the state late last month, according to What Now.
Seven locations will be opened in Wilmington, North Carolina, and in the Myrtle Beach region by franchisee Impeccable Development.
“Impeccable Development is excited to continue the brand’s growth in the Southeast and develop Del Taco in the Wilmington and Myrtle Beach area,” said Rob Tanner, CEO of Impeccable Development. “The opportunity to introduce a fresh, exciting brand with a loyal following was incredibly appealing. Del Taco’s commitment to using high-quality, fresh ingredients truly sets them apart, and I know our community will embrace these delicious menu offerings.”
The fast-food chain’s Brand President Tom Rose shared excitement about working with Impeccable Development, citing their solid development and operations track record, even though particular locations have not yet been disclosed.
New Menu Items
Those in the area will also get the opportunity to enjoy the new menu items released by the popular Tex-Mex-inspired chain late last month. The new Chipotle Carne Asada Steak Burrito, which the company calls a bold addition to its menu of freshly grilled carne asada steaks, is its next big move.
“As a Southern California-based brand, we know that carne asada is more than just a delicious protein option. It’s a favorite among backyard barbecues, family gatherings and get-togethers because of the freshly grilled, bold and authentic flavor it brings to a meal,” said Rose in a statement accompanying the press release announcement of the new food. “Our guests should be able to grab carne asada on the go at an affordable price. Starting with Street Tacos at $2.99, our carne asada steak lineup also includes Epic Burritos and Loaded Fries, plus the NEW Chipotle Carne Asada Steak Burrito that’s over half a pound and grilled to perfection.”
The massive fast-food chain with Mexican-American influences isn’t hesitant to add new dishes to its menu. With its so-called “Mucho Meal,” which gave customers more value for their money for only $5, Del Taco entered the fast-food wars in October.
A 16-ounce fountain drink, small Crinkle Cut Fries, and a Mini Cinnamon Churro are included with every Del’s Mucho meal. Drinks and medium or macho (large) fries are also offered. At $4.49, the most costly lunch option is the Snack Taco Mucho Meal, which comes with two Snack Tacos. The Double Taco Mucho Meal ($6.49), Chicken Lover’s Mucho Meal ($7.49), and B&C Burrito Mucho Meal ($5.49) are also available for sampling by patrons.
