Wild Chipotle Video Shows DC Customer Jumping Behind Counter, Making Her Own Food, & Attacking Workers
December 30, 2024
A Chipotle in DC has gone viral after a customer got disgusted with the meager portions offered in her food, so she took matters into her own hands.
In footage posted to X, formerly Twitter, on Dec. 22, no one seemed to be in the Christmas spirit. At the fast-casual restaurant in the Brentwood district, the unnamed woman shoved employees aside behind the counter while holding an empty bowl.
The irate customer then filled the bowl with food. When Chipotle worker Roberto Hernandez attempted to take the bowl of food out of her hand, the fight became out of control. Food flew up around the workstation as Hernandez tried to grab the bowl, but she held on and slapped him in the face with it in response.

Hernandez claimed that after being violently attacked at work, he was left scared and that seeing the video, which currently has over 8 million views, is “triggering” for him.
The angry customer was furious because her Uber Eats order was incorrect, Hernandez told WUSA9. According to the staff, she requested a refund since her burrito bowl did not have twice as much meat as she claimed to have ordered.
Hernandez told the outlet that he and his boss attempted to inform her that they were unable to issue a refund and that she would have to get in touch with Uber in order to get her money back.
The Chipotle employee claimed that after growing increasingly agitated by the circumstance, she stepped behind the counter, took matters into her own hands, and began making a fresh order. Chipotle reported the alleged assault to the authorities, and the woman plans to sue the fast-casual restaurant giant.
Chipotle Says Larger Portions Hurt the Bottom Line
Even though Chipotle has recently been criticized for its smaller portions, the fast-casual giant claims that the larger portions negatively impacted the chain’s profitability.
Business Insider reports that the firm said on Oct. 29 that a focused effort to provide “consistent and generous portions” in every purchase was why the chain’s profit margins dropped the previous quarter.
“We know that portioning is a core equity of ours in the organization,” Chipotle’s interim CEO, Scott Boatwright, said during an earnings call. “We are committed to ensuring that we give the right portion to every guest that walks into the building.”
