McDonald’s Announces New Happy Meal Collaboration With Pokémon

January 22, 2025

McDonald’s is giving Pokémon fans a reason to celebrate, as the fast-food chain and the popular game have announced a new collaboration.

According to an official announcement on the Pokémon website, with each Happy Meal until late February 2025, Pokémon lovers can receive a four-card Pokémon TCG booster and sticker activity sheet. Furthermore, hungry Pokémon fans in the United States can use the McDonald’s app to get a Happy Meal and obtain 24 pack hourglasses and 12 wonder hourglasses for the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket app.

The promotion began on Jan. 21 and is available nationwide at all Mickey D’s locations.

Each Happy Meal comes with a TCG booster pack containing four of 15 available cards: Charizard, Pikachu, Miraidon, Jigglypuff, Hatenna, Dragapult, Quagsire, Koraidon, Umbreon, Hydreigon, Roaring Moon, Dragonite, Eevee, Rayquaza, and Drampa. In addition to the cards, participants will be given a Pokémon poster and one sticker sheet to adorn it.

“There’s nothing more exciting than when we can bring campaigns to our fans with partners that we’re fans of ourselves,” said Guillaume Huin, senior marketing director at McDonald’s, in the chain’s press release. “Much like they do for McDonald’s, our fans have deep nostalgia and love for the Pokémon brand. We’re thrilled to build on those great memories and create a new moment of fun and happiness with the new Pokémon Happy Meal.”

Latest McDonald’s x Pokémon Collaboration

The fast-food giant has frequently collaborated with the video game. Last month, it collaborated with game developer Niantic to launch a promotion featuring the wildly popular Pokémon GO app.

The event includes four weeks of play, during which all McDonald’s locations will hold highlighted five-star raid battles. During the promotional weeks, the Golden Arches will host events from 6 to 7 p.m. local time every day, allowing fans from coast to coast to build up their Pokémon roster and possibly snag a few rares in the process.

The first week of the event took place in December, and the second is occurring this week from Jan. 20 through Jan. 26. The final two promotional weeks are scheduled for Feb. 10 to Feb. 16 and March 10 to March 16.

Lure modules will be installed at each McDonald’s restaurant in the U.S. during the event, ensuring that Pokémon are enticed to battle there more frequently. Sponsored PokeStops and Gyms will also be popular, providing additional resources and opportunities to compete for bigger rewards.
