Newman’s Own ‘Pay What You Want’ Food Truck Goes on Tour

April 14, 2025

Newman’s Own “Pay What You Want” food truck will kick off its annual tour on April 15. Running until October 2025, the food truck will make various stops throughout the eastern and southern U.S.

Visitors to the Pay What You Want food truck can select a number of different food items, from cookies and pizza to salads and coffee. Proceeds from sales will be donated to the Newman’s Own Foundation, which helps “transform the lives of children who face adversity.” The organization hopes to raise $500,000 by the end of the food truck tour.

“Whether people choose to ‘pay’ $1.00, $10.00, or $100.00 for a slice or a salad, it’s in fact a donation to the Foundation and our mission, to nourish and transform the lives of children who face adversity,” said Alex Amouyel, CEO of the foundation, in a press release.

Between 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. tomorrow, the Newman’s Own truck will be parked near Bryant Park on 40th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenue, in New York City. Future stops will include Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Washington, D.C.; Atlanta, Georgia; and Charlotte, North Carolina.

Newman’s Own Pay What You Want Food Truck ‘Pit Crew’

The first Newman’s Own Pay What You Want food truck tour was in 2024 as an experiment to see if the concept worked. The food truck offered pizza at 20 different locations. In all, customers chose to pay more than the average retail price, confirming that the fundraising idea was a success.

“We’re excited to bring back the Pay What You Want food truck bigger and better than before,” said Rob Master, chief marketing officer of Newman’s Own.

Alongside the food truck, brand ambassadors called “Paul’s Pit Crew” will share the organization’s mission with visitors as well as promote the tour’s activities on social media. Newman’s Own is currently recruiting ambassadors to help out on this year’s tour.

“With an expanded tour, hundreds of stops, and the search for Paul’s Pit Crew, we’ll reach more communities than ever and benefit more children in the process,” said Master.

Continuing the legacy of the late actor Paul Newman, Newman’s Own Foundation has raised over $600 million for various causes. The food company Newman started in 1982, Newman’s Own, still donates millions of dollars to help kids in need.
