ConAgra hit with biggest ever criminal fine for salmonella outbreak

Salmonella in peanut butter produced by a unit of ConAgra Foods sickened at least 625 people in 47 states back in 2007. The company will pay $8 million in fines and relinquish $3.2 million more in forfeitures to the federal government as part of a misdemeanor plea deal.
