Campbell’s results dragged down by healthier-for-you segment

Campbell Soup is attributing much of its poorer-than-expected fourth-quarter earnings on disappointing sales in its Campbell’s Fresh segment, home of the company’s better-for-you brands — Garden Fresh Gourmet and Bolthouse Farms. CEO Denise Morrison could not disguise her dismay in the performance of the new, health-forward product lines. “I am not pleased with the results of our fourth quarter,” Ms. Morrison said. “The performance of our Campbell Fresh business, driven predominantly by execution issues, is disappointing.”
