Autonomous robots make their debut at Lowe’s

September 1, 2016

Lowe’s, partnering with tech firm Fellow Robots, will roll out the LoweBot autonomous robot to 11 California stores over the next 7 months. The five-foot tall machines are designed to greet customers and assist in finding products, accompanying the customers to the exact aisle location. The LoweBot makes use of a 3D scanner to help it recognize human body shapes and can handle speech recognition. The models include video screens that displays detailed product information. Marco Mascorro, co-founder and CEO of Fellow Robots, told ZDNet, “Our goal is to solve the biggest challenges our clients face, like checking inventory and customer service, while also having the ability to react and make quick iterations to our system to fulfill the unique needs of our partners.”
