Hedge fund takes stake in Pier 1 Imports

Alden Global Capital has revealed that it has taken a 9.5 percent stake in Pier 1 Imports. The chain, which is searching for a new CEO as sales have languished, has been contacted by the hedge fund about representation on the company’s board as well as other matters related to its executive search and overall performance.
