Best Buy will try to ‘Ignite’ crowdfunded products

Sites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo have been a great help to many start-ups looking to fund new ideas, but often the products, despite rave reviews, fizzle due to lack of real-world exposure. To offer a remedy to the situation and perhaps be first-in on hot new products, Best Buy is launching its Ignite initiative to give customers a chance to give new crowdfunded products a try. According to a company press release, “the program [will] include dedicated store space for products and services from startups; a new section on BestBuy.com where customers can browse, learn about, and purchase the newest products from startups; and a partnership with PCH, a product innovation company that works closely with startups to help get their products into consumers’ hands.”
