Tadashi Yanai, the 67-year-old founder of Uniqlo, said he was highly influenced by American culture as a child growing up in Japan. A trip to the U.S. as a teenager where he saw chains such as Gap, inspired this tailor’s son to open his own company, which today is among the largest clothing chains in the world.
