J.C. Penney reduces forecast

The department store chain’s comp sales fell 0.8 percent in the last quarter, way off the 2.7 percent increase expected by Wall Street. Penney pointed to disappointing apparel sales for the weakness in its business. The company cut its full year guidance from growth between three and four percent to one and two percent.
