Disney, PacSun, Aeropostale and others agree to end on-call shifts

In what a USA Today article calls “an early holiday present,” management at a number of retail chains —Disney, Aeropostale, Carter’s, David’s Tea, PacSun and Zumiez — have yielded the pleas of a coalition of state attorneys general to end on-call scheduling routines. “People should not have to keep the day open, arrange for child care, and give up other opportunities without being compensated for their time,” New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said of the practice which demands workers report for work with little advanced notice.
