Malls move on without anchor stores

As large department store chains such as Macy’s and Sears close stores, mall operators are left with the dilemma of what to do with the open space. Filling it with the right mix of tenants has become increasingly critical for mall operators as traffic declines. About a third of all malls currently open are expected to close over the next decade.
