American Apparel begins mass layoffs

American Apparel, which was recently acquired by Gildan Activwear as part of a bankruptcy court auction, has laid off 2,400 employees. Gildan is retaining American Apparel’s intellectual property rights as part of the deal along with some of the company’s inventory and manufacturing equipment.
