Any suggestion that the nation may be in jeopardy of running out of bacon is false, according to industry experts. The reality is that the reserve of frozen pork bellies used to make bacon has declined, but not to the point of concerns for those who sell or consume the salty meat. Reports of a shortage promoted by the Ohio Pork Council appear to have only been a marketing ploy intended to drive additional sales of bacon.
