Target hires grocery expertise away from Kroger

Target has long seen grocery as a necessary segment for encouraging repeat store traffic, and yet the retailer has struggled to gain a footing in food categories. Yesterday, in an obvious move to improve its position in grocery, fresh food and beverages, Target announced the hiring of Jeff Burt, a 30-year grocery veteran most recently employed as the president of Kroger’s Fred Meyer chain.
