Engaged Capital, which owns 12.9 percent of Rent-A-Center shares, has proposed five alternative directors to the company’s board. The investment firm has expressed concern about what it sees as the “outsized influence” of Mark Speese, chairman and CEO of Rent-A-Center, over the company and its board of directors.
