Home Depot posts solid gains in first quarter

Home Depot posted comparable store sales gains of 5.5 percent in the first quarter, well above the 3.9 percent expected by Wall Street. The home improvement chain’s profits increased to $1.67 a share compared to $1.44 for the same period in 2016.
