Grand opening date draws near for Lidl

Lidl, the German grocery chain, will open its first stores in the U.S. at locations in Virginia and the Carolinas on June 15. The discount grocer, which currently operates 10,000 stores in 27 countries, is the second largest retailer in Europe behind Walmart. It expects to have 100 stores operating on the East Coast by the summer of 2018.
