Kitchen 1883 is a comfort food restaurant that Kroger is building into its newest Marketplace store in Union, KY. The restaurant, whose name alludes to the year Barney Kroger opened his first grocery store, is the latest experiment by Kroger to grab share of the U.S. food industry. The retailer has recently begun experimenting with meal kits and in-store bars and restaurants.
