Sears Holdings turns profit despite sales falling $1.7B

Sears Holdings had a terrible Christmas with same-store sales at Kmart down 12.2 percent and 18.1 percent at the company’s namesake chain. The company, however, did turn a profit between $140 million and $240 million due, in part, to changes in the nation’s tax code.
