Shareholders of Rent-A-Center stock approved the sale of the company to Vintage Capital Management, which also holds a controlling interest in Buddy’s Home Furnishings, a competitor. It is this situation, which may lead the government to require the chains to sell off some stores to receive approval to go forward with the sale as part of the antitrust review process.
