Study finds Coca-Cola undermined China’s fight to reduce obesity

A study published in the Journal of Public Health Policy and the BMJ concludes that Coca-Cola has engaged in a campaign to focus Chinese consumers on the need to exercise while downplaying the harmful effects of consuming sugary drinks. The percentage of overweight or obese adults in China grew from 20.5 percent in 1991 to 42.3 percent in 2011.
