Target beats Wall Street estimates as digital sales soar

A 44 percent increase in digital sales helped Target grow its comparable store revenues by 4.8 percent in the first quarter. The retailer also posted a profit increase of nine percent, despite higher costs to fulfill online orders via delivery or in-store pickup. The chain’s shares were up eight percent in premarket trading.
