Apple ‘acqui-hire’ self-driving startup Drive.ai

In an effort to add more autonomous vehicle expertise to its own development efforts in the area, Apple has acquired Drive.ai, a firm that recently indicated it was ramping down the company in expectation of permanent closure. Drive.ai was running a test fleet of self-driving vans in Texas. The practice of sweeping up failing startups in order to acquire their best talent is apparently common among tech firms.
