Activist investor wants Barnes & Noble to look for a buyer

Sandell Asset Management, which is among Barnes & Noble’s largest investors, has urged the company to seek a sale after concluding the bookstore chain is largely undervalued. Shares in the company rose 14 percent when a letter sent by Sandell to Barnes & Noble’s board was made public.
