ALDI Drops Prices on Game Day Favorites by up to 25% Ahead of the Super Bowl

February 3, 2025

ALDI has announced that it is dropping prices on a variety of game day snacks and apps by up to 25% ahead of the upcoming Super Bowl. The discount grocer knows that its customers are nothing if not inflation-weary, and it is trying to alleviate this with its latest price reductions. Let’s take a look at what we know about this latest effort.

ALDI Wants You To ‘Get a Quarterback’ in Its Price Reductions With Drew Brees

In a press release announcement, ALDI revealed that it is helping people countrywide confront their Big Game spreads with its everyday low costs by providing reduced prices ahead of football’s biggest game.

During the “Get a Quarterback ” promotion, customers can save up to 25% on snacks and apps, such as wings, spinach dip, and pizza. To put the winning game plan into action, the discount grocer has teamed up with former quarterback Drew Brees and his wife Brittany to “show fans how to enjoy game day and beyond with great food.”

“No matter which team fans root for, we can all agree that food is the MVP of the Big Game,” said Dave Rinaldo, COO of ALDI, in a statement to RetailWire to announce the promotion. “With the help of Drew and Brittany, we’re showing customers how to feed a crowd without sacrificing time, quality or their budgets. Year-round, shoppers can fill their carts for less through the many actions we take, from displaying products in the boxes they arrive in, to our quarter cart system. Now we’re taking savings even further by offering up to a quarter back on game day favorites.”

“For the first time, ALDI has third-party analyses on our brand perception, price comparisons and estimated economic impact that prove our ability to challenge retail norms pays off,” added CEO Jason Hart in a statement. “The results show that when it comes to value, ALDI is the undisputed leader. We’re setting the new standard for grocery retail by delivering unmatched savings to our shoppers, bringing us one step closer to becoming America’s first stop for groceries.”

Great Pay Wages for Workers

Meanwhile, the discount grocer is proving it’s a leader in other ways. In September 2024, ALDI announced that it was expanding its workforce to over 49,000 people and increasing the national average hourly wage by up to $23 an hour.

“Whether it’s our in-store team filling shelves with fresh produce, warehouse staff managing logistics, or drivers delivering our trending ALDI Finds, our employees fuel the quicker, easier and more affordable shopping experience our shoppers know and love,” President Atty McGrath said in a statement accompanying the announcement about the new pay wages. “Our ability to attract and retain talent has always been key to our success, and we look forward to helping our new team members grow in their careers.”

The discount grocer is well-known for paying industry-leading wages and promoting competitive remuneration. As a result, the new national average starting salary for open store and warehouse positions now ranges between $18 and $23 per hour, depending on the market and position.

Employees who work more than 30 hours per week have access to health insurance, paid time off, and other benefits. In addition, ALDI started providing flexible scheduling and 100% paid parental and caregiver leave in 2023.

ALDI boasts that 70% of assistant store managers and more than 30% of store managers began as ALDI retail personnel. Furthermore, the company’s executive leaders started their careers at an ALDI store.

According to the September announcement, the grocer hired over 13,000 employees to help it prepare for the holidays and further its expansion efforts.
