Air pollution got worse in 2017 and 2018. Fine-article pollution increased 5.5 percent since 2016, according to researchers from Carnegie Mellon. The effects of fine-article pollution aren’t fully understood, although research suggests it can damage respiratory function and may be linked to dementia.
