Dick’s to increase promotions as 2Q performance falls short

Dick’s Sporting Goods had projected that its same-store sales would increase between two and three percent in the second quarter. Instead, the company achieved a 0.1 percent gain, leading CEO Edward Stack to announce Dick’s would invest in promotions and marketing efforts to protect its market share in the back half of the year.
