AG to Outsource Transportation

By George Anderson

Associated Grocers (AG) has announced it will outsource its grocery transportation to Ruan Transportation Management Systems, says the Puget Sound Business Journal.

AG notified Teamster Local 174 that it will not renew its contract with the driver’s union when the current contract expires.

The wholesaler supplies 340 independents in the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, Hawaii and the Far East.

a smart move by AG?

In theory, outsourcing grocery transportation services
will allow AG to focus on its core wholesaling business. [George
