Starbucks Comes Up With Another New Drink
By George Anderson
Starbucks is hoping to hit gold again with it newest new thing, a non-coffee drink named after an Aztec goddess and described as a drinkable dessert.
The new chocolate drink, Chantico, is steamed with cocoa butter and whole milk and as USA Today’s Bruce Horovitz writes, “It’s no diet drink: A 6-ounce cup has 390 calories, 21 grams of fat and 51 carbs.”
David Aaker, author of Brand Portfolio Strategy, told USA Today, “They’re creating a whole new category. The competition for this won’t be other coffee shops, but candy bar and cookie makers.”
Starbucks will roll out its new drink in the U.S. and Canada on Jan. 8.
