J.C. Penney to close 27 stores

J.C. Penney has announced plans to close 18 department stores (three previously announced) and nine other home and furniture locations this year. The retailer did not provide a forecast for 2019 even as CEO Jill Soltau expressed confidence in Penney’s future outlook.
