Judge dismisses Walmart’s new trial request over firing of worker with Down’s syndrome
November 10, 2022
Walmart did not get the ruling it hoped for in response to its request of a federal judge to grant a new trial following a jury’s decision in a different court that the retailer must pay a former employee with Down’s syndrome $125 million. Walmart was accused of firing the worker instead of adjusting her work schedule. The employee, Marlo Spaeth, worked for 16 years at Walmart. The retailer said it is reviewing its options in the case.
