Kroger adds protein alternative to meat aisle

Beyond Burger, a plant-based alternative to hamburger, is being rolled out in 600 Kroger stores. The deal with the nation’s largest supermarket chain operator has more than tripled the distribution of the product manufactured by Beyond Meat. Russ Richardson, vice president of meat and seafood at Kroger, said the company brought the product in as an acknowledgment that many consumers are changing their eating habits.
