McDonald’s Debuts Limited-Edition Garlic Sauce
July 3, 2024
McDonald’s is set to release a new Special Grade Garlic Sauce, inspired by Japan’s Black Garlic Sauce and in collaboration with the popular Japanese animated (anime) series “Jujutsu Kaisen.” This unique dipping sauce, available starting on July 9, is going to be a blend of garlic and soy with a slight tangy sweetness, enhancing the flavor of McNuggets as a dipping sauce.
The collaboration with “Jujutsu Kaisen” goes beyond just flavor. Each purchase of the Special Grade Garlic Sauce will come with anime-themed packaging, featuring eight unique lid designs adorned with characters from the series. This creative tie-in is sure to delight anime enthusiasts and McDonald’s customers alike.
In line with the theme of the offering, McDonald’s is also offering a 30-day free trial of the streaming service Crunchyroll with each purchase of the sauce. This allows fans to dive into full episodes of “Jujutsu Kaisen” and other anime titles, making the dining experience even more immersive.
McDonald’s is offering the Special Grade Garlic Sauce exclusively through its mobile app. Fans eager to try this new condiment will need to place their orders via the app, and the sauce will be available for a limited time only.
The Special Grade Garlic Sauce is available as a dipping option for McNuggets and can also be purchased separately. This new sauce is a testament to McDonald’s ability to innovate and cater to diverse tastes while engaging with popular culture trends.
McDonald’s continues to surprise its customers with unique offerings and collaborations. The launch of the Special Grade Garlic Sauce, paired with anime-inspired packaging and a Crunchyroll trial, is a prime example of how the fast-food retailer keeps its menu feeling new. It’s also not the first time McDonald’s has crossed over into the realm of anime. In February, the chain turned its “M” upside down to represent its anime alter ego, “WcDonald’s,” and introduced a limited-time savory chili sauce.
