Nestle looks to carve out niche in meatless burger category

Nestle acquired Sweet Earth, a maker of plant-based products such as “Benevolent Bacon” and veggie burgers, in 2017. With the introduction of the Awesome Burger, Sweet Earth is moving into direct competition with the Impossible Burger and Beyond Meat, two companies that produce plant-based burgers that seek to get close to mirroring the texture and taste of beef.
