New York City to require businesses to accept cash payments

New York is joining Philadelphia and San Francisco in requiring businesses to accept cash payments. Mayor Bill De Blasio is expected to sign the bill passed by the city council. “When you open a dollar bill, it reads ‘This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private,’” said Ritchie Torres, the sponsor of the ordinance. “Cash ought to command universal acceptance.”
