Restaurant visits decline as consumers make their own lunches
Chicago Tribune 02/09/2017While overall spending at restaurants improved two percent last year, customer traffic actually declined, according to The NPD Group. Both visits to sit-down restaurants and fast-food locations were down. The steepest day-part decline was lunch as more consumers opted to feed themselves rather than visit a restaurant.
