Retailers need more innovation, fewer discounts to succeed in 2019

Merchants need to find ways to innovate and gain the attention of consumers without having to give away margins in the process. That is the takeaway of Walter Loeb, who expects retailers to focus on training and empowering store associates in the year ahead while investing in warehouse robotics, artificial intelligence and the creation of fulfillment centers.
