Staples exploring a potential sale

Staples is exploring a sale with private equity firms following its failed bid to acquire Office Depot. “People familiar with the matter” told The Wall Street Journal that Staples would likely be valued at $7 billion in any sale discussion. The office supplies retailer’s stock market value stood at $6.2 billion yesterday after its shares rose nearly 10 percent on the news.
